Full local support for day school pupils
Local educational guardians, and host families ready to help
Educational guardians
Our educational guardians support your child throughout the academic year. They are on hand all day, every day to give help and guidance. Supported by our central management team, they work with you and your child to deal with any issues that may arise.
Academic support
Our educational guardians play a key role in helping your student academically. They attend parents’ evenings, provide reports to parents, and maintain good contact with parents and the school.
We know that students sometimes need academic as well as emotional support. We can help your child find the right personal solution for them – through their school, or with our flexible online education partners at Wendover Online School.
Culture and adventure
International students arrive keen to experience British culture and try new things. Oxford Guardians believes that fostering this spirit of adventure is a key aspect of what we do.
Our students have been involved in a range of activities outside of their formal schooling, from Formula 4 motorsport, sport, dancing and acting, to help in finding work experience.
Our guardians share cultural experiences with their students where possible, and we support and encourage our homestay families to do the same.
Expert advice
As a student with Oxford Guardians, you have access to the full expertise of our Management Team and their knowledge on a wide range of educational issues. We help our guardianship students and their families with expert advice on:
- School expectations, and necessary visas, healthcare and insurance
- Private schooling, including prep and public schools
- Entrance examinations at every level, and interview guidance
- UK and US qualifications
- University advice and applications including SATs, IELTS support, clearing support, and support with Oxbridge applications.
Host families
Our host families welcome independent day school pupils to their homes every day during term time. They help your child enjoy family life, understand British culture, and look after them as part of the family.
We take care in choosing our host families and their homes to make sure they offer a safe and supportive environment for your child. We also look at your child’s personal needs and wishes – we know that choosing the right homestay family is important for their happiness and wellbeing.
Long term homestay families live near your chosen day school. If your child needs transport to get to and from school, or at the beginning and end of term, we help sort this out –your child is safe with us.
