Chris lives in Sale, which is about half an hour from central Manchester, with his wife who is from Brazil and their two sons. Both Chris and his wife work from home. Chris is a Business Development Manager for a hotel consolidator. The couple decided to register to host international students because they thought it would be interesting for the whole family to meet people from other countries and cultures but especially for their boys.
Chris is also a Football Association registered football coach and coaches his son’s football team. Even though it’s different circumstances to hosting it has the same safeguarding protocols. For fun, he likes to do things with his family. They enjoy weekends away and holidays plus barbecues in the summer. They visit Brazil once a year. Chris’ boys enjoy swimming, football, video games and they’re currently taking jujitsu classes. Their large garden has a patio, a trampoline and mini football pitch.
Chis knows it must be difficult for young people to leave home to study in a different country but finds they very rarely show it. He finds most students seem to like the independence and adventure. He always like to make a student feel like they’re part of his family.
Chris says he is happy if his wife and children are happy… and also if Manchester City win a trophy or even a game! But he thinks the main ingredient to a happy life is always having something to look forward to.
