Lexi has worked in international schools for most of her working life, including in administration, teaching and finally as Welfare Manager. Following a brief period working in hospitals she joined Oxford Guardians in 2019 first as a guardian and homestay, and then in the Management Team. Having worked with guardianship companies from the school side of things, Lexi knows the difference a good one can make to a school, which is why she joined Oxford Guardians once she had the opportunity. “It’s all the best bits of my roles from the schools in one package,” she says when asked why she started as a guardian.
Lexi knows that some students can adapt to studying away from parents really quickly, and really enjoy it from the start, and some need a bit of time and a lot of encouragement and reassurance to settle in. “Each one of our students is different, and each of them need a different kind of support. As guardians we work with school staff to make sure all our students have the best chance they can of making the most of their time here.”
Usually, Lexi can be found with her nose in a book, unless she’s writing her own novels and, after completing a Masters in writing, is hoping to be a published children’s author. She also enjoys gaming (video games, board and card games) which her students often join in with when they stay, walking the dogs, cooking, singing and learning new things.
